August 24, 2020
Greetings Veterans Community,
I hope you have enjoyed a relaxing and safe summer with your families. On behalf of the staff at Veterans Elementary School, I am excited to welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year! Our first day of school is Monday, August 31st. This year will be like no other as we will start the school year through a virtual Distance Learning Model. We are committed to ensuring all students continue to grow academically, socially, and emotionally even from a distance. Careful and intentional planning will help us to navigate Distance Learning for all students and with your partnership I am confident that our students will reach academic achievement.
During this school year and more than ever, it will be extremely important that we establish a strong school and home connection. Our connection is critical to the success of our students. To keep you informed about student learning and school activities, we will send information via School Messenger (telephone and email), our school blog, Peachjar, and posted on our social media pages. Additionally, there will be other opportunities for us to connect virtually through Leadership Coffee Chats, ELAC, PTA, and SSC meetings. Your participation, partnership and voice are valuable to our Veterans Learning Community. To ensure that you are staying informed your contact information must be accurate in our student information system.
Veterans Elementary is the home of the Heroes! Our goals are for our school to be a place where all students will be models of good character, embrace creativity, be voracious learners, empowered to be confident and self-aware. We will promote a culture where all learners will be unified and encouraged to be creative, collaborative, innovative, embrace inclusion, and develop a deep desire to learn. We are excited for all of you to be contributing members of our school community. We strive to create a safe and welcoming learning environment where parents and staff work harmoniously to create rigorous and engaging learning opportunities for all children.
We have planned events to connect with our new and returning families. Teachers return to work on Wednesday, August 26th and at this time, Administration and teachers will collaborate and finalize plans. Stay tuned for updated information, events, and virtual meeting dates. They will be shared very soon!
Thank you in advance for being our partner in education. If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate in contacting front office, Associate Principal Claudia Aldrete or me.
We look forward to connecting with you and to a great year with you and your students!
