Weekly Newsletter

Welcome!

Dear Lauderbach families,

We hope you and your family are taking care. We miss you!! Earlier today Dr. Escobedo, District Superintendent sent out a phone call and email announcing that our schools in San Diego County are closed indefinitely until further notice. The Chula Vista Elementary School District will send out information updates each week. Please be sure to read all the communication.

I have included part of Dr. Escobedo's message here:

Sent on Behalf of Superintendent Francisco Escobedo, Ed.D:

As many of you may have heard, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced a statewide "shelter-in-place." This latest directive aligns closely with actions taken earlier this week by our San Diego County officials, which means we will continue limiting gatherings to no more than 10 individuals and enforcing social distancing. This order by Governor Newsom will ensure all counties are following the same guidance to limit the spread and severity of COVID-19. The Chula Vista Elementary School District is comprised of staff, parents, students, and our community partners. As role models in our community, it is incumbent upon us to do our part.

In a unified effort to protect the health of students, staff and school communities, our District and other school districts countywide, in collaboration with the County Department of Public Health, made the collective decision to remain closed indefinitely. We will send you weekly updates while our schools are closed until further notice. We are taking a proactive and aggressive approach to maintain the health, safety and well-being of our schools and communities.

The Governor's order does not change or impact the role of CVESD, which is considered essential, nor our duty to carry out the following essential services:

  • Meals being prepared and distributed to students.
  • Any function associated with keeping the continuity of learning moving forward.

Our Mission

We are a preschool-6th grade, Dual Language public elementary school dedicated to bridging the achievement gap through rigorous academics and a rich social-emotional learning environment.  Through our community's support, we prepare our children to achieve social change through academic preparation and community service.

Our Vision

Lauderbach Elementary School shares the district’s vision for our local learning community.  Lauderbach is committed to providing a safe, challenging, and nurturing environment for all of our children.

Our children are creative-thinking, high-achievers, confident in their own abilities. They are committed to life long learning and responsible citizenship.  They are unique individuals who take pride in developing their own full potential. Our diversity gives us strength and promotes equity for all. Our learning environment is based on high expectations and clear standards. Families, school, and community work together to benefit all children which fosters respect for one another.

We embrace a rapidly changing world and look to our community and district for support. Students are provided the tools and strategies to become self-sufficient and technologically proficient, accessing information from all over the world. Students are motivated to meet high academic standards, which include art, drama, and physical fitness. Students appreciate all cultures and languages and do not take note of individuals' economic status.

We look forward to the future with hope and confidence.
