Parent Information Sessions
A variety of topics will be presented during the school year, based on parent interest. Presentations may take place at your child’s school and/or other locations. Information regarding topics, times, and locations will be distributed by your child’s teacher.
One of the most important aspects of our program is using parent volunteers on a part time basis. If you are not working during the day and have the time, we invite you to assist in the classroom. Your help will make the preschool experience much more valuable and meaningful to you and your child. If you have younger children, you can discuss with the teacher ways you can assist by taking home projects (please arrange this with the individual classroom teacher).
Your child is a big winner when you participate. To ensure the health of all children and to meet the State Licensing requirements all parents must have a TB clearance. This clearance can be obtained at any of the Chula Vista Elementary School Districts TB clinics at no charge, any county health clinic, or your doctor’s office. You must provide proof of the TB clearance to the school secretary before assisting in the classroom.
For the safety of our students, any adult who volunteers in the school more than two (2) times per week will also be required to have fingerprint clearance. Arrangements for fingerprinting can be made through your child’s teacher and/or by contacting the Preschool Office.
The State Preschool encourages the participation of parents in their child’s classroom. Teachers will contact parents to arrange convenient times for their participation. When you volunteer, brothers and sisters should stay home. We will provide opportunities for them to participate in on special occasions.
Because we feel that parents are an essential part of a child’s learning potential, we provide on-going parent education, support, and opportunities for active participation in all preschool activities.
The State Preschool plans several meetings for the parents each year including parent orientation. Conferences may be arranged at any time with the teacher or director as requested by parents. Parent/teacher conferences are arranged in the Fall and Spring. Conferences will provide you opportunities to meet with the teacher to discuss your child’s progress.
Parent Advisory Council
The State Preschool has a Parent Advisory Council. This committee is involved in planning, developing, and evaluating the educational program for the preschool students. Preschool parents who would like to participate on this committee are invited to contact their child’s teacher, or the Preschool Office at 425-2362. All parents are welcome to attend meetings. Complete information regarding this committee will be sent home during the first month of school.
