Mr. Armando Farías was elected to the Board of Education in November 2016 and his term expires in December 2020. He is married and the parent of three children.
Mr. Farías earned a Master of Arts in Leadership Studies from the University of San Diego and has over 16 years of experience in the educational field. He joined the San Ysidro School District over 20 years ago as a school custodian and eventually worked his way up to become a schoolteacher and currently a school principal within the San Diego Unified School District.
As a school principal, Mr. Farías has been very fortunate to work with teams of outstanding educators and classified members that have dramatically raised students’ academics. He understands that education should see no race, skin color, or socioeconomic level and believes that education can forever change lives, improve human conditions, and give freedom. It is for these reasons that Mr. Farías strongly believes in the promise of public education and that when the right conditions are created for students, families, and certificated and classified team members, we all succeed—especially our students.
Mr. Farías fervently stands for equity, respect, support, and transparency. These conditions are imperative in order to establish a shared-decision process among all stakeholders that will positively impact our future generations.
